Riccardo Tisci - Inspiration

In my eyes Riccardo Tisci is one of the Gods of fashion in this modern day.

Riccardo Tisci (born in 1974 in Taranto, Italy) is a 38-year-old Italian fashion designer who reinvented Givenchy and conquered the runways of Paris. After he studied in Italy he then graduated from London's Central Saint Martins Academy in 1999, and in 2005 was named Creative Director for Givenchy womenswear and haute couture. In May 2008 he was also named as menswear and accessories designer of the Givenchy men's division.

Tisci's apparent fascination with Gothic and religious touches (dark, languid dresses for fall couture) and space-age minimalism (one ready-to-wear show featured white-clad models drifting around a sterile-white sphere) have drawn new attention to the Givenchy brand. tisci states that Beyond his blood relatives, there is his close-knit six-person  design team within Givenchy and his posse of intimate girlfriends. these take form in the likes of the model Mariacarla Boscono, Carine Roitfeld, an early proselytizer for his talent and a poster girl for his Goth-chic aesthetic, and the artist Marina Abramovic . Tisci’s relationship with Abramovic is so productive and the artist, an ageless 65, depicted herself suckling Tisci for the powerful sixtieth edition of Visionaire, which he edited, dedicated to “Religion” and, of course, celebrating family. On top of all this,  there are the women he admires and dresses: Madonna (whose COSTUMES he designed for her Sticky & Sweet tour in 2008), Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Naomi Campbell, Courtney Love, Florence Welch, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna among them. And his male counterparts who frequently wear Givenchy: Frank ocean, Kanye west, Jay z etc.

As seen in this image, Riccardo Tisci designed the wedding dress that Kim Kardashian Wore to marry good friend of his, Kanye west. You can see his legs in the second image of the back of Kim's dress. These two pictures have now become the two most liked pictures on instagram ever.

For me, Riccardo Tisci is one of my biggest inspirations. Coming from an average background, Tisci set out to become to become the top of his field despite having to deviate from original path. I want to be in photography and art, what Riccardo Tisci is in Fashion. He is my benchmark. Tisci has been in the business for such a long time yet he finds each new project as fun as his first. also as one of the best, Riccardo Tisci has had the ability to work with artists and brands to collaborate on projects such as Nike's AF1's. I want to be in a position where people come to me to work off of my aesthetic much like Tisci... that is the dream.
